A research team led by Yu Diqiu at Yunnan University, or YNU – located in Kunming, capital city of Southwest China's Yunnan province – was invited by Cell Press journals to issue a review.
It was entitled Functions of WRKYs in plant growth and development and discussed the biological functions of the WRKY protein family in regulating plant growth and development.
It was also supported by the General Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Yunnan Province Outstanding Youth Program.
The WRKY transcription factor is a family of plant super proteins that originate from eukaryotes and expand in vascular plants.
Over the past two decades, scientists from all over the world have conducted extensive research on the biological functions of WRKY transcription factors in regulating plant growth and development and responding to various stress responses, especially in biological and abiotic stress.
In recent years, the research team led by Yu has published more than 30 papers in international mainstream academic journals – including PNAS, Molecular Plant, Plant Cell, Plant Physiology, and Plant Journal.
