The Beijing-based National Natural Science Foundation of China, or NSFC, recently commended Yunnan University president Fang Jingyun as an expert for "scientists telling good stories".
Fang, who is an academician, was also interviewed by China Science Daily at the university, also known as YNU – located Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province.
This was in recognition of Fang's widely acknowledged outstanding contributions in the field of vegetation and in a species diversity survey. His exclusive interview was published in a prominent position on the people's page of the China Science Daily on March 2.
The accolades come after the NSFC carried out a series of publicity activities with the themes of "telling a good story of scientists" and "promoting the spirit of science and craftsmanship".
The series focuses on recounting the narrative of scientists and scientific innovation with the support of the NSFC, promoting the spirit of scientists in the new era and creating an atmosphere of respecting talent and innovation.
