The launch ceremony of the "Talent Program" for biology in Southwest China's Yunnan province in 2023 was held at Yunnan University, or YNU – located in Kunming city, capital of Yunnan – on Feb 18.
The "Talent Program" aims to select a group of high school students with both academic and moral qualities to participate in scientific research and academic discussions under the guidance of scientists in the basic disciplines of natural science.
Yuan Xiaotang, vice president of the Yunnan Provincial Association for Science and Technology and Wu Jiansheng, vice president of Yunnan University, attended the launch ceremony.
He Zhaorong, vice president of the School of Life Sciences of Yunnan University, talked about the program in 2022 and the curriculum for 2023. YNU will strengthen the training of high school students in scientific research and study, hold a subjects summer camp, stage scientific experiments and conduct other things.
The 10 middle school students selected for the "Talent Program" in 2023 are from the secondary school affiliated to Yunnan Normal University, Kunming No 1 Middle School and Kunming No 3 Middle School.
