A signing ceremony for a keystone cooperation agreement between Yunnan University, or YNU and the Yunnan University of Chinese Medicine was held on April 13 at the Chenggong Campus of YNU.
The two universities are located in Kunming, capital city of Southwest China's Yunnan province.
YNU president Fang Jingyun and Qiu Yong, Party secretary of the Yunnan University of Chinese Medicine, as well as other leaders of the two universities, attended the ceremony.
Fang said the agreement marked a substantial step forward in cooperation between the institutions.
He urged the two sides to jointly make new and greater contributions to the high-quality development of higher education, medical care and the local economy in Yunnan.
For his part, Qiu congratulated YNU on its upcoming centenary celebrations on April 20. He said YNU had given invaluable guidance and advice to the Yunnan University of Chinese Medicine when conducting inter-university cooperation and exchanges last year.
It is believed that the signing of the agreement will inject new impetus into the TCM movement in Yunnan and in the country.
