In the first match, a young team from the Yunnan University Alumni Soccer Club competed against a student team. Players on both sides were competitive and after 90 minutes of spirited tussling, the alumni club team won 5 goals to 4.
The second match was played by the middle-age group team from the club against a team composed of YNU faculty members.
Li Yuefu, the oldest participant in the event, was an alumnus who graduated from the law school of Yunnan University. He once served as the captain of the Yunnan University soccer team and led the team to victory in a championship among colleges in Yunnan province.
This time, he led the middle-age group team – whose average age was nearly 50 years old – to play a full game, only losing their match by one goal.
A short ceremony added to the fun generated by the soccer matches.
Zhao Bin, an alumnus of the law school and former captain of the YNU soccer team, said that he would continue his alumni-related work diligently.
On behalf of the alumni soccer club, Zhao also presented Yunnan University Sports College with a commemorative jersey for the university's 100th anniversary this year.
