Experts, academics based in Beijing visit Yunnan University

The Beijing Overseas Talents Center, or BOTC, led 14 foreign experts and academics on April 18 on the "2023 Foreign Experts China Discovery Your – Yunnan" Symposium of High-level Foreign Talents from Beijing.

The first part of the Yunnan tour was held at Yunnan University or YNU, located in Kunming, capital city of Southwest China's Yunnan province. In addition, a symposium was held at the university.

The expats – who came from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and other countries – are engaged in aerospace, physics, mathematics, geography and in other fields. They all work in key universities, research institutes and enterprises in Beijing and some have been working in China for more than 10 years.

YNU vice president Liu Bo presided over the symposium and introduced the century-old development history of the university. He said YNU adhered to an open attitude, in order to carry out international exchanges and cooperation in an all-round way.

Tang Niansheng and Sun Xiaohui, academics in some key disciplines at YNU – together with the foreign experts and academics – shared their research results and training experiences at the symposium.

One of the foreign experts, Tang Junwang, an academician of the European Academy of Sciences and a professor at Tsinghua University in Beijing, gave a lecture on the preparation and storage of green chlorine to teachers and students in the School of Materials and Energy at YNU.

Mao Dongmin, deputy director of the BOTC, said the activity at YNU could help with the discipline development and training at universities in West China. Mao said it could also promote international exchanges and cooperation between China and foreign countries in education, science and technology and in training.
