The "Chinese Language and Traditional Arts Online Cultural Experience Camp" – sponsored by the Sino-Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Education and hosted by Yunnan University – ended on April 28.
The camp lasted for six days and combined 1,140 minutes of live broadcast and more than 250 minutes of tape-broadcast courses.
During the course, more than 200 students from Iran, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Cambodia, India and other countries learned about Chinese phonetics, the historical evolution of Chinese characters, Chinese calligraphy and Yunnan folk songs.
At the closing ceremony, the teachers praised the students for their enthusiasm and earnestness in class, encouraged them to continue their efforts in learning Chinese, and welcomed them to study at Yunnan University in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province. Forty students were recognized as outstanding students.
In addition, a student representative spoke at the ceremony, saying that the pronunciation class has given them a new way to practice pronunciation, while the calligraphy class has given them a new understanding of the art form.
Yunnan University has been committed to promoting the development of international Chinese education through various cultural exchange camps.
In 2017, 2018 and 2019, three Bangladeshi youth exchange camps were held in China; in 2019, the "Chinese Bridge" Summer Camp for British students to China and the first winter camp for outstanding students of the University of Tehran visiting China were held; and the "Chinese Bridge" online winter camp for Bangladeshi youth was held in 2022.
