Researcher of Yunnan University wins national certificate

In honor of the seventh National Science and Technology Workers' Day, a prestigious ceremony was held in Beijing on May 30 to commemorate the occasion. The highlight of the event was the presentation of the third National Innovation Award. Among the esteemed winners was Yu Li, the deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of Conservation and Utilization of Bio-Resources in Yunnan, as well as a distinguished researcher at Yunnan University. Yu's remarkable contributions and exceptional work in the field of innovation were recognized and rewarded with the prestigious "National Innovation Excellent Certificate."

Yu's impressive career in research has been focused on mammalian system evolution and adaptive evolutionary mechanisms. Her expertise in this field has led her to undertake significant projects, including those supported by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation. Yu's dedication and hard work have resulted in the publication of over 90 papers in esteemed journals, such as Science, Nature Genetics, and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS).

She is a member of the National Committee of China Association for Science and Technology and vice chairman of the Professional Committee of Biological Evolution Theory of the China Zoological Society.

The National Innovation Award is regarded as an award for sci-tech talent second only to the State Top Science and Technology Award. The reward period of the innovation award is three years.

This year, seven research teams were awarded medals of the third National Innovation Award, 26 researchers were awarded medals, and 251 researchers were awarded certificates.

Previously, Zhang Keqin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a professor at Yunnan University, and director of the State Key Laboratory of Conservation and Utilization of Bio-Resources in Yunnan, also won the certificate at the first innovation award.
