Sponsor visits YNU, cares for students

A meet-and-greet between a group of students and their celebrity sponsor was held at the Chenggong Campus of Yunnan University on June 2.

Meng Fei, a famous host in China, donated 4 million yuan ($561,133) to set up a grant at Yunnan University in September 2019 to support 100 students from poor families to complete their undergraduate studies for four consecutive years.

The donation greatly relieved the students' financial pressure. They are diligent in their studies and have achieved fruitful results in all areas of their student lives, reports show.

Yunnan University President Fang Jingyun and other leaders of the university, as well as Lu Chunqing, general manager of the wealth management department of CITIC Group, attended the latest meeting with Meng.

The star host, also known as "Grandpa Meng", communicated with the sponsored students about learning, life principles, interpersonal communication, and future planning. He conveyed his wishes that they would work hard and realize their dreams. The students also chatted about their studies and employment goals and prospects with him.
