Yunnan University holds BRI-related seminar

Yunnan University successfully hosted the International Chinese Language Education Supports the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) Construction Seminar on June 13, with the goal of exploring the significance and path of sharing resources and collaborative development of language and regional country studies involved in the course of the BRI.

Experts and scholars from educational institutions in China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Iran and Mali attended the seminar both online and offline.

During the seminar, Fang Jingyun, president of Yunnan University, and Yu Tianqi, deputy secretary and discipline inspection secretary of the China Center for International Language Exchange at the Ministry of Education, discussed the promotion of international Chinese language education at Yunnan University.

Yu pointed out that international Chinese language education is an important carrier for promoting people-to-people exchanges among the countries involved in the BRI and establishing a community with a shared future for mankind.

At the seminar, Hu Jinming, vice president of Yunnan University, pointed out that the university is integrating itself into the national strategy and regional economic and social development, promoting international Chinese language education, and supporting the construction of the BRI as it radiates into South and Southeast Asia from Yunnan province.

In addition, keynote speakers at the seminar included scholars from Beijing Language and Culture University, Zhejiang Normal University, and South China University of Technology, along with representatives from educational institutions in Myanmar and Mali.

Zhang Yujiao, deputy researcher of the Institute of Resource Plants at Yunnan University, also shared her experience on the modernization of agricultural development under the BRI.

Throughout the seminar, experts and scholars discussed the current state and future development direction of international Chinese language education, emphasizing the importance of resource sharing, open integration, cooperation, and promoting the development of international Chinese language education.
