The project called "Green Synthesis and Activity Research of Natural-Like Products," which was spearheaded by Professor Yan Shengjiao and Professor Lin Jun from Yunnan University's College of Chemistry Science and Engineering, has been awarded the Second Prize in Natural Sciences at the 2022 Ministry of Education's Outstanding Achievement Award in Scientific Research in Higher Education.
This is the only winner from the national awards in Yunnan province for 2022.
The research has enhanced and broadened the ways of creating natural-like products. The project has built a compound library of more than 2,000 compounds, providing a groundwork for future investigations into their biological activities.
The project has synthesized several new compounds with excellent anti-tumor, antibacterial, and certain immunosuppressive activities. The newly established synthetic methods and techniques have attracted wide attention and reference from domestic and foreign peers.
At the same time, the Yunnan People's Government also announced the decision on the provincial sci-tech awards in 2022, with eight projects led by Yunnan University awarded, including two first prizes, four second prizes, and two third prizes.
In addition, Professor Zhang Xiguang from the Institute of Paleontology at Yunnan University was selected as one of the "Most Beautiful Scientists in Yunnan in 2022" at the provincial awarding.
