Yunnan University among 40 culture, tourism base

An awarding ceremony for the Culture and Tourism Research Base (2023-2025) was held in Beijing on June 29. Li Yan, a professor of the School of Ethnology and Sociology of Yunnan University, accepted the award on behalf of the university.

According to the notice of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism announcing the List of "Culture and Tourism Research Bases (2023-2025)," there are 40 units now available, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Communication University of China, and Yunnan University, were listed.

After nearly 20 years of development, Yunnan University's cultural industry research has positively contributed to theoretical research, platform construction, foreign exchanges, think tank construction, personnel training, and other aspects and has achieved fruitful results.

In terms of platform construction, several platforms have been formed by Yunnan University, such as the National Characteristic Cultural Industry Research (Yunnan) Base and the Yunnan Intangible Cultural Heritage Research and Training Base.

As for the external exchanges, the university has set up collaborations with the University of Queensland in Australia. Moreover, the exchanges also include the hospital-level partnership with Chulalongkorn University and Khon Kaen University in Thailand. The highly-anticipated hospital-level cooperation agreement was also signed with the Institute of Cultural Economics and Tourism of the University of Valencia in Spain.

Next, the Yunnan University's base is set to further exert its disciplinary advantages to promote the inheritance of national culture and local cultural creative industry, public culture, cultural industry and regional social development.
