Yunnan University creates intl summer school on life sciences, biology

The 2023 International Summer School of "Training Program for Top Students in Basic Disciplines of Biological Sciences 2.0," jointly held by Yunnan University and Tsinghua University, opened in Yunnan University on July 31.

Over 140 teachers and students from 32 biological science bases nationwide, four universities in Central and West China, and seven middle schools involved in the Yunnan Talent Program have been conducting research and discussion.

Wu Jian, vice president of Yunnan University, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. He said that Yunnan University has a unique advantage in talent training and hoped to provide a new platform for learning and exchange through this summer school.

This international summer school comprises the "Frontiers of Life Sciences" seminar and the "Biology Field Practice" course, which lasts 14 days.

In the "Life Sciences Frontier" seminar, famous scholars at home and abroad give lectures and lead students to explore the research hot spots and development frontiers of life sciences.

In the "Biology Field Practice" course, all students will follow the long-term constructed unique internship routes by Yunnan University, an in-depth understanding of Yunnan's unique biological resources and diverse climate and environment.
