The final of the Yunnan Division of the Eighth National College Undergraduate Life Sciences Competition (Scientific Inquiry) was successfully concluded at Yunnan University on July 30.
A total of 18 universities featured in the Yunnan division, with 587 teams registered in total. Some 132 teams made it to the provincial finals.
Ultimately, 32 projects qualified for the national finals.
At the awards ceremony and closing ceremony for the Yunnan division, Wu Jian, the vice president of Yunnan University, presented awards to the winning teams and made a speech, wishing the best of luck to those that entered the national finals.
The aim of the competition is to cultivate college students' ability to think innovatively, while also improving their practical skills and team spirit.
It also aims to broaden their scientific vision and promote reformed ways of teaching life sciences in addition to enhancing the quality of talent training.
The successful conclusion of this provincial-level part of the competition has deepened inter-school exchanges among the participating universities in Yunnan, and is expected to help improve the quality of professional talent training in life sciences.
