Athlete from Yunnan University shines at national race walk event

The 21st China University Athletics Championships was held in East China's Anhui province from Aug 8 to 16. Zhang Jiarui of Yunnan University won the championship in the 20,000-meter race walk in the men's Group C and second place in the 10,000-meter race walk. This is a historic breakthrough for the university track and field team in national events.

Zhang said in the post-match interview that he was pleased to win the gold medal and earn honor from his alma mater Yunnan University, making his efforts meaningful.

The national championships attracted more than 4,800 athletes and coaches from 390 universities and colleges nationwide, with the most significant number of participating universities and coaches in history.

Yunnan University has actively carried out the model of moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor integration education, and the athletic level of the university's sports teams and students' physical health levels have been greatly improved.
