Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav, vice president of Nepal, and his wife visited Yunnan University on Aug 21, where they attended a symposium with representatives of teachers and students from the university. Leaders of the university and Nepalese students on campus also participated in the discussion.
At the symposium, Zhou Xuebin, secretary of the Party committee of Yunnan University, welcomed the visit of Yadav's team on behalf of the university.
Zhou said this center of higher learning hopes to welcome more outstanding Nepalese students to study there and aims to strengthen scientific research cooperation with scientific research institutions and colleges in Nepal, in order to enhance people-to-people exchanges and mutual learning among countries in the region.
Faculty representatives from various colleges of Yunnan University introduced their forms of cooperation with Nepal's Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu University and scientific research institutions.
Yadav said he was glad to learn Yunnan University has set up a Nepali language major and conducted in-depth practical cooperation with Nepalese universities.
The university hopes to continue to strengthen its cooperation with Nepalese universities and scientific research institutions in the fields of agriculture and plant research.
