Yunnan University makes moon cakes for students

Updated: Sep 21, 2023

As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, the catering service center of Yunnan University's logistics service group is making moon cakes for students. The university has been making free moon cakes for students every year since 2006 in an effort to ease their homesickness.

This year, the catering service center plans to make 33,000 moon cake gift boxes to be given out to students for free. Each moon cake gift box contains two ham moon cakes, one mixed-nut moon cake, one Yunnan-style crispy coconut moon cake, and one hawthorn moon cake.

In addition to the fixed flavors, the catering service center also changes up some flavors every year to keep things feeling fresh.

This year, the center made hawthorn moon cakes, which have a delicious sweet and sour taste. Additionally, halal moon cakes have been made this year to meet the needs of certain students.

The 33,000 moon cake gift boxes will be distributed to students on Sept 25-26.

In addition, the catering service center has created gift boxes featuring the beautiful moonlit scenery of the university's Wancui Garden.
