Yunnan University helps with sports, aesthetic education in Jinghong city

Teachers and students from 23 universities in Southwest China's Yunnan province were recently selected to visit middle and primary schools across the province to help develop aesthetic education and physical education in primary and secondary schools.

A 40-member team from Yunnan University went to Jinghong city in Yunnan to carry out aesthetic and sports education on Sept 20. That morning, the university held a departure ceremony for the team.

The team consisted of three teachers and 37 students from the university's School of Physical Education, School of Art and Design, and Changxin International Art School.

Liao Lianzhong, vice president of Yunnan University, presented the team with a publicity flag at the ceremony. Han Shilin, a teacher at the School of Art and Design, and Huang Haiyang, a Class 2020 undergraduate student of the School of Physical Education, delivered a speech as team members.

The team said that it will enhance social service awareness and abilities, implement the three-year Action Plan for the High-quality Education Development of Yunnan Province (2023-2025), and promote the development of sports aesthetic education in Yunnan.

That afternoon, the team members visited Jinghong No 1 Middle School, Menglong Town Xiaojie Central Primary School and eight other primary and secondary schools to carry out supporting work.

During the next four-month period, the Yunnan University team will provide services for schools in Jinghong, including training in sports and art, community development, and related sports and art competitions, promoting the daily and diversified development of sports and aesthetic education in local primary and secondary schools.
