The 2023 "Yuandong Cup" International Sailing Rally ended on Sept 25, and the participating team of the Yunnan University Fuxian Lake Industry-Education Integration Sailing Base won third place in the third stage.
Professor Yang Xueqin from the School of Physical Education of Yunnan University and Liu Kang, a graduate student majoring in sports training at the university, were on the team.
The rally covered more than 2,000 nautical miles, crossing Qingdao in China, Vladivostok in Russia, and Mokpo in South Korea. During this period, seven participating teams overcame difficulties such as the large temperature difference between day and night and strong wind and rain at sea.
The first stage of the rally is from Qingdao to Vladivosk, the second stage is from Vladivosk to Mokpo, and the third stage is from Mokpo back to Qingdao.
All teams set sail on Sept 1 and reached Vladivostok on Sept 10. They performed a track show and a sea cruise in Vladivostok. The event's organizing committee was also awarded the "Best Event Organization Award" by the Eastern Economic Forum in Russia.
On Sept 19, with the ending of the second stage in Mokpo, seven teams were invited to participate in the fifth SRL (Sea River Lake) Development Seminar of the southwestern region of South Jeolla Province. They discussed topics such as strengthening the connection of "maritime tourism around the Yellow Sea Circle".
Yunnan University's team participating in the rally showcased Yunnan sailing sports to the world.
The Yunnan University Fuxian Lake Industry-Education Integration Sailing Base will continue to develop its sailing industry, serving the national sports industry.
