The fourth Belt and Road Initiative National Education Forum – with Yunnan University fully participating in the event – was held on Oct 13 in the port city of Qingdao, located in East China's Shandong province.
YNU, located in Kunming – capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province – was one of the universities organizing the event and it sent a heavyweight delegation to it.
The forum was an important part of the 60th China Higher Education Expo.
More than 100 experts and scholars from Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, Sichuan University, Lanzhou University, Yunnan University, Qingdao University and other leading universities and research institutions across China attended the forum.
With its theme of "10 Years of Jointly Building the Belt and Road Initiative: Achievements, Situation and Prospects", the attendees discussed a raft of major topics.
These included policies and measures, economic and trade development, personnel training and educational cooperation in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative – providing theoretical and intellectual support for the BRI.
Zhou Guping, vice chairman of the Belt and Road Initiative Research Branch of the Chinese Association of Higher Education – and president of the China West Development Research Institute – delivered a keynote speech.
Zhou spoke about the theoretical and practical logic of higher education and the high-quality co-construction of the BRI.
In addition, Lu Guangsheng, secretary general of the same branch of the association – and dean of the Institute of International Relations of Yunnan University – gave his thoughts.
He presented a paper on the topic of "building an international land and sea corridor facing the Indian Ocean, creating a new growth point for high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative".
Li Tao, a researcher with the Institute of Belt and Road Initiative Research at Yunnan University, also gave a speech.
This was on the "research on international image building of overseas Chinese enterprises: based on the investigation and analysis of the business environment and labor quality of Chinese-funded enterprises in Cambodia".
