An establishment ceremony for the Yunnan FVF-IPM (FVF refers to fruits, vegetables and flowers) Joint Lab, as well as the International Symposium on IPM of Major Agricultural Invasive Insect Pests, were both held at Yunnan University from Oct 16 to 19.
Participants discussed the challenges related to invasive pests from the insect kingdom that affect fruits, vegetables, and flowers, as well as expressed a strong willingness to collaborate on research in green pest control for invasive species of common concern.
During the symposium, it was decided to establish three international working groups specifically for invasive insect pests that affect fruits, vegetables, and flowers. These groups will adopt an online management model inspired by the European Union's research project management approach to drive various activities within the laboratory.
Subsequently, members of the joint lab visited the Kunming Experiment for Sustainable Agriculture (KESA). They also discussed experiments in the field and opportunities to cooperate on future research.

China is one of the countries most severely affected by foreign invasive species, with over 660 confirmed to be active and causing harm to crops in the country.
The Yunnan FVF-IPM Joint Lab was established under the leadership of Yunnan University. It is composed of 13 research units and supported by teams from 13 countries, including Thailand, France, and Germany, as well as eight research teams from seven Chinese research institutions.
