Yunnan University leads province in terms of subjects offered

Shanghai Ranking, the professional higher education assessment organization, officially released its 2023 Best Subject Rankings on Nov 8. The list included 98 academic subjects.

A total of 5,053 subject points from 485 universities made the list.

Southwest China's Yunnan province saw 11 universities enter the rankings with 86 subjects making the list.

Among them, Yunnan University led the province with 29 subjects ranked first, as well as two subjects – Ethnic Studies (second place) and Ecology (third place) – included in the top-tier disciplines.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Yunnan has been actively supporting Yunnan University's development of three to five world-class subjects.
