The opening ceremony of the "Capacity Enhancement Project for Rural Teachers in Laos" was inaugurated at Yunnan University in Kunming, capital city of Southwest China's Yunnan province, on Nov 6.

The ceremony was attended by officials from Yunnan University, representatives from the Planning Department of the Ministry of Education and Sports of Laos, the Laos-China Cooperation Committee, and consuls from the Laos Consulate General in Kunming, all of whom delivered speeches.

The initiative stands as one of the eight major aid projects provided by China to Laos, with the primary objective of elevating Laos' education management standards and the overall competence of its education professionals.

Following detailed negotiations, inspections, and consultations, Yunnan University was selected as one of the training bases for this foreign aid project. The university is set to play a crucial role in organizing classroom training and study tours to enhance the skills and capabilities of approximately 1,000 rural teachers from Laos.

Currently, the university has established training venues and facilities in accordance with the training plan, curated a team of high-quality professional trainers, and ensured sufficient personnel for training, safety management, teaching assistants, and logistical support services. These preparations aim to guarantee the seamless progression of the training program.
