YNU team receives national honor for protecting key rivers

A research team from Yunnan University, or YNU – located in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province – recently received a top national honor for protecting key rivers.

The Decision on Commending the 11th Awards of the Mother River Protection Operation was published.

The Ecological Civilization General Education Innovation Team of YNU was selected to get the Green Team Award of the Mother River Protection Operation and only 20 teams nationwide received the honor.

The Mother River Award is an authoritative appellation in the area of ecological civilization nationwide and is the only award in the field of ecological civilization for young people.

It focuses on commending individuals, collectives, organizations and projects that have made outstanding contributions in practice exploration, publicity and education, theoretical research, as well as the sci-tech innovation of ecological civilization.

Since its establishment, the Ecological Civilization General Education Innovation Team of Yunnan University has efficiently completed more than 10 popular science projects.

Moreover, it has designed 16 ecological civilization-themed research and study programs, as well as offered more than 40 general education courses on ecological civilization.

Additionally, the team has established a team of university student science lecturers, who have conducted over 200 visits to libraries, elementary and middle schools.

They've staged popular science lectures on ecological civilization, biodiversity photo exhibitions, local handicraft classes and more.

The team has also created brand ecological civilization practice activities such as "Exploring the Mysteries of the Plateau Lakes" and "Simulated Hearings on the Asian Elephant National Park".
