Updated: Dec 6, 2023

The National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences, along with the Division of Chinese History of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, publicly announced the list of approved projects for the National Social Science Fund Major Research Program on Significant Historical Issues at the Chinese Academy of History for the year 2023 on Nov 30.

Yunnan University was set to undertake four projects, securing the top position nationwide.

According to the project approval list, 25 colleges and research institutes were selected for this major bidding project. Apart from the affiliated institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Yunnan University led with four approved projects, followed by East China Normal University with two projects. In contrast, other colleges and research institutes each have one project.

It is reported that this batch of major approving projects included 38 research topics covering three academic disciplines – Chinese history, archaeology, and world history.

Only one approving project was established for each topic, and the funding intensity was determined based on the actual research needs, generally ranging from 600,000 yuan ($84,003) to 800,000 yuan per project.

Yunnan University's success in securing approval for four projects reflected the university's comprehensive research strength in philosophy and social sciences.
