YNU, overseas Confucius institutes participate in Beijing event

The 2023 World Chinese Language Conference took place in Beijing on Dec 7-9. Yunnan University students, along with partner Confucius Institutes and Confucius Classrooms, received multiple awards at the event.

Hu Jinming, vice president of Yunnan University, attended the proceedings.

Representatives from foreign partner institutions – such as the Confucius Institute at South North University in Bangladesh, the Confucius Institute at Tehran University in Iran, the Confucius Institute at Dhaka University in Bangladesh, as well as the Fuqing Confucius Classroom in Mandalay, Myanmar – participated in the event and delivered speeches.

The Confucius Institutes and Classrooms are collaborative projects involving Yunnan University.

During the conference, the Outstanding HSK Test Center Award for 2023 was presented and the Fuqing Confucius Classroom in Mandalay received the award for the third consecutive year.

On Dec 7, a meeting for international Chinese proficiency test centers was also held at the event.

Over 600 participants participated, including representatives from Chinese test centers in 80 countries, directors of Chinese learning and testing centers, representatives from universities – and enterprises in China and foreign countries, as well as experts and scholars.

At the session, the Confucius Institute at Tehran University received the 2023 Outstanding HSK Promotion Award.

In addition, Yu Jiangying, vice dean of the School of International Chinese Education at Yunnan University, delivered a speech at the Language Teaching and Cultural Communication for International Chinese Education forum.

What's more, YNU master's degree student Yang Yumeng won first prize in the First National International Chinese Education Teaching Skills Competition during the conference.
