During the recent National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, three deputies from Yunnan University each made suggestions geared towards their respective fields of work.
"We promote innovation in biomedical research based on practical considerations, such as local medicinal plant resources and industrial foundations, in order to conduct research tailored to local conditions," said He Yanping, director of the Key Laboratory of Natural Resource-based Drugs, which is affiliated with both the Ministry of Education and Yunnan University.
The laboratory team has long been committed to antiviral drug research and has obtained multiple invention patents thanks to the province's abundant natural resources. Moving forwards, they will continue to work hard to transform more resource endowments into new quality productive forces.
Gao Wei, secretary of the Party Committee of the Law School of Yunnan University, recently visited the Xizhou Court of the Dali City People's Court in Yunnan province. It was here that Gao witnessed mediators successfully resolving family conflicts.
Gao suggested that the people's court should resolve disputes before they escalate into lawsuits.
In the field of biodiversity conservation, Zhang Keqin, a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a professor at Yunnan University, introduced Yunnan's current practices in biodiversity and ecosystem conservation. Zhang emphasized that Yunnan has implemented on-site protection for its biodiversity and ecosystems, which has resulted in the preliminary formation of a comprehensive system of protected natural areas.
As a result of this system, the numbers of several endangered animals and plants in Yunnan have shown signs of recovery.
