YNU students care for left-behind children

Updated: Mar 14, 2024

During the recently-concluded winter vacation, Yunnan University (YNU) called on students to return to their hometowns to carry out a special initiative to care for left-behind children, including activities such as voluntary teaching and providing psychological education.

A team from the Software College of Yunnan University held a safety lecture for young children in Yinggu village, Southwest China's Sichuan province. They focused on promoting awareness around five main themes: forest fire prevention, drowning prevention, prevention of sexual abuse, earthquake preparedness, and electric shock prevention. Additionally, the team held a collective birthday party for all left-behind children.

Another team from the Law School of Yunnan University provided voluntary services in the Chunguang Community of Southwest China's Yunnan province and Xiaokunshan town in East China's Shanghai municipality. Team members offered homework help to left-behind children and conducted special sessions on psychological health education and legal knowledge, aiming to care for the children's psychological well-being.

There were also other teams conducting voluntary services in communities such as Pingfuqiao in Northwest China's Ningxia Hui autonomous region and the Xincheng Community in Southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. Members made handicrafts with these children and encouraged them to bravely pursue their dreams.
