Yunnan University was represented by its deputy Party secretaries Ma Wenhui and Wu Jiande, as well as officials from the Yunnan Provincial Department of Education.

Ma said that coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia, he hoped the two universities could cooperate more broadly and deeply in a range of areas, providing more development opportunities and higher-quality educational resources for both sides' teachers and students.

Noor Azuan Abu Osman stated that, as a research-oriented public university, the University of Malaya sees extensive opportunities for cooperation with Yunnan University. He emphasized that the two universities would soon determine the methods and paths for cooperative education, pragmatically advancing specific affairs to achieve mutually beneficial development.

After their discussions, they reached an agreement on a number of issues and signed a memorandum of understanding.
