YNU students shine ICPC national event

The 2024 International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) National Invitational Tournament (Shaanxi) was held at Northwestern Polytechnical University on May 18-19, with a total of 388 teams from 207 universities across China participating. Yunnan University teams won one gold and one bronze medal.

The winning teams from Yunnan University came from its Software School and were coached by Associate Professor Liu Jinzhuo. The team composed of students Lin Yiquan, Li Mingkang, and Yang Jiaqi won the gold medal, ranking 14th among the 388 teams and setting a new record for universities in Yunnan province in high-level competitions. The team consisting of students Zhou Zhihao, Gao Linghao, and Liu Lizheng won the bronze medal.

The ICPC aims to showcase university students' innovation, teamwork, programming, and problem-solving skills, and is known as the "Olympics of computer software."

In 2020, with strong support from the university, the School of Software established the Yunnan University ICPC training team, attracting many coding enthusiasts.

The ICPC training team trains during their spare time and vacations. They have achieved numerous awards in ICPC events and other competitions such as the Group Programming Ladder Tournament and the Lanqiao Cup Competition.
