Yunnan University and the Wenshan Zhuang and Miao autonomous prefecture – both located in Southwest China's Yunnan province – held a strategic cooperation forum and signing ceremony at YNU's Chenggong Campus on June 12.
Chen Ming, secretary of the CPC Wenshan autonomous prefecture committee, said at the event that Wenshan was deeply implementing its "Vitalize Wenshan through Education" strategy.
Under the agreement, Wenshan will work with Yunnan University to implement cooperation initiatives – assisting Wenshan in accelerating the promotion of ethnic unity, overall progress and high-quality development in various sectors of the economy and society.
Li Bingze, executive deputy secretary of the Education Working Committee of the CPC Yunnan provincial committee, was positive.
Li said that the committee and the education department would fully support the deepening of strategic cooperation between Yunnan University and Wenshan – jointly promoting the educational and socio-economic development of Wenshan.
Zhou Xuebin, secretary of the Party Committee of Yunnan University, said that serving the high-quality economic and social development of Yunnan was a key task of YNU.
Moreover, the university would move to fully utilize its talent, overall intellectual know-how and technological advantages to pragmatically advance university-local cooperation – striving to contribute to the economic and social development of Wenshan.

Moving forwards, plans are for both sides to work together to advance the high-quality development of modern agriculture and education in Wenshan, as well as conduct research on the control of local rocky desertification.
