Deputy Party secretaries and vice presidents of Yunnan University or YNU – located in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province – recently led delegations to go out into the field to hold talks with officials from autonomous prefectures and cities to help with their development.
The YNU folks went on June 21-25 to Qujing city, the Honghe Hani and Yi autonomous prefecture, Baoshan city, the Wenshan Zhuang and Miao autonomous prefecture, Pu'er city, the Diqing Tibetan autonomous prefecture, Yuxi city and Lincang city – all in Yunnan province.
The university engaged in discussions with the local governments and their bureaus of education and sports, science and technology, as well as industrial information technology.
The initiative was part of the university's proactive efforts to serve Yunnan’s economic and social development and to promote deeper cooperation between YNU and the province's various municipalities in areas such as technological innovation and talent cultivation.

Specifically, the university and Honghe will collaborate in constructing the Kaiyuan Ecological Research Station, restoring the ecological environment of the Yuanyang Terraces and developing plateau-featured agriculture.
In Pu'er city, building on the established strategic partnership there, both sides engaged in in-depth talks on working together in areas such as supporting basic education and providing technological services for the development of key local industries.
At the coffee estate in the city's Simao district, they agreed on a joint approach to tackling challenges and bottlenecks in local industrial development – and on how the university's research teams can support local industry growth.
Moving forwards, YNU plans to extend its activities with the province's 16 autonomous prefectures and cities by fully investigating the natural environment, industrial support and other resources.
Combining the university's strengths in training people, scientific research and international exchanges, YNU aims to further contribute to the economic and social development of Yunnan.
