The 19th ASEAN and the ninth ASEAN+3 Youth Cultural Forum were held in Brunei on June 23-28 and Yunnan University, or YNU – located in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province – played a part in the proceedings.

Four YNU students and a teacher – together with representatives from Xiamen University, Guizhou University and Guangxi University – formed the Chinese youth delegation at the event.

The forum aimed to facilitate cultural and artistic exchanges among young folks from ASEAN countries, China, Japan and South Korea.

It celebrated the diverse beauty of world arts and cultures – promoting mutual understanding, appreciation and respect among youth for each other's cultures and arts. A total of 132 students and teachers from 10 countries participated.

During the opening ceremony, the Chinese youth delegation performed vocal ensemble, instrumental ensemble and dance fusion programs – showcasing traditional Chinese cultural arts and ethnic costumes at the international event.

At the forum's arts and culture market, YNU products including paper-cut paintings, bookmarks and postcards – as well as Yunnan province specialties like tie-dye and bamboo weaving items – attracted the interest of young people from other countries.
