A delegation from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Malaysia, led by Vice-chancellor Mok Soon Chong, visited Yunnan University, or YNU, in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province, on July 26.
Duan Xingwu, vice president of YNU, met with the delegation to discuss and explore ways to deepen cooperation.
During the event, Duan reviewed the collaboration between the two universities in recent years, particularly in co-authoring science books for Malaysian youth. He also introduced the development history of YNU and its achievements in discipline construction and talent cultivation.
He expressed hope that both sides will take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia as an opportunity to deepen cooperation in areas such as faculty exchange, joint student education, collaborative research, and the development of Malay language programs. This would boost cultural exchange between China and Malaysia in education and research.
Mok Soon Chong praised the cooperation between the two universities and introduced UTAR's academic strengths and talent cultivation strategies. He expressed his excitement at deepening student exchange and talent cultivation with YNU and jointly promoting high-quality development in higher education.
