Yunnan University (YNU) sponsored the Kunming-Yuxi Geoscience Field Research and Education Base Construction Symposium, which ran from Aug 16 to 19 in Kunming, the capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province.
Experts and scholars from over 20 universities and research institutes attended the symposium, including China University of Geosciences and Nanjing University, as well as some enterprise and public institutions such as the Geology Press.
Speeches were made at the opening ceremony of the symposium by some key speakers. These included Wu Jian, vice president of Yunnan University; Qi Wufu, vice president of Yunnan Land and Resources Vocational College; and Liu Damo, vice president of China University of Geosciences (Beijing) and deputy director and secretary-general of the Geological Education Research Branch of the Geological Society of China.
Yuan Junpeng, dean of the School of Earth Sciences at Yunnan University, presented a keynote report entitled Initial Construction and Exploration of an Integrated Geoscience Research and Teaching System.
Six experts and scholars gave impressive academic presentations on the experiences and achievements of their respective institutions in building field research bases.
The symposium discussed topics related to the construction of field research and teaching bases, including systems, management, and digitalization.
This symposium facilitated resource sharing and deepened cooperation between Yunnan University and Chinese geoscience institutions and enterprises. It also further contributed to the development of geoscience field practice bases in China.
