Yunnan University (YNU) and the Baoshan municipal people's government, both in Southwest China's Yunnan province, held a strategic cooperation agreement signing ceremony on Aug 27 in Baoshan.
According to the agreement, the two parties will deepen cooperation in education, healthcare, sci-tech innovation, talent cultivation and recruitment, and investment promotion.
Baoshan will provide Yunnan University with more practical platforms and innovative spaces for applying its teaching and research outcomes. In return, Yunnan University will offer stronger talent and intellectual support to bolster Baoshan's development, aiding local schools, hospitals, and industries.
The delegation from Yunnan University also visited key industrial zones in Baoshan, including the Yunnan Tongwei High-Purity Polysilicon Co and the Baoshan Arabic Coffee Industrial Park.
Located on the route connecting China with Southeast Asia and Europe, Baoshan is one of the earliest developed regions in Yunnan province. It is currently experiencing robust growth in its green silicon, bio-pharmaceutical, and advanced manufacturing industries. Specialty agriculture, such as coffee, and the cultural tourism sector have also seen increased growth.
Yunnan University has developed into a comprehensive academic institution with a full range of disciplines and a concentration of top-flight talent. Biology, resource development, environmental protection, and studies on frontier and international issues in Southeast Asia constitute its distinctive competitive advantages and chief characteristics. It was selected as a domestic first-class university in both 2017 and 2022.
