Teams from Yunnan University (YNU) earned two national second prizes and five national third prizes at the ninth National Cryptography Mathematics Challenge finals on Aug 24.
After the competition questions were released in March 2024, the School of Mathematics and Statistics at Yunnan University formed several teams of both graduate and undergraduate students. The university's teams won seven first prizes and two second prizes in the Southwest China leg of the event, with seven teams ultimately advancing to the national finals.
Since the competition's inception in 2016, Yunnan University's faculty and students have actively participated and consistently achieved outstanding results, with a total of 36 teams reaching the national finals.
Cryptography mathematics, a cornerstone of information science and cybersecurity, is crucial in the current digital age. Yunnan University will continue to encourage student participation in similar high-level academic competitions to cultivate more exceptional talents in mathematics and statistics.
