YNU Chenggong Campus wins two national green honors

The Chenggong Campus of Yunnan University was recently awarded two national honors – the "2024 National Public Institution Water Efficiency Leader" and the "Green and Low-Carbon Public Institution" by the National Development and Reform Commission and National Government Offices Administration.

Yunnan University has emphasized wastewater recycling, with over 150 kilometers of reclaimed water pipe network installed. The Chenggong Campus houses two reclaimed water treatment plants with a daily capacity of 1,800 cubic meters each and two 85-meter-tall booster pump stations.

A reclaimed water regulation pool with over 40,000 cubic meters capacity was built to store reclaimed water for reuse during holidays.

During the rainy season, excess rainwater was pumped into reservoirs for use during the dry season.

Yunnan University has also been actively engaged in helping the nation achieve carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals. In 2021, the university established the Yunnan University Carbon Neutrality Innovation Center, which focuses on theoretical research, policy recommendations, technology development, and talent cultivation in energy saving and low carbon.

The center has successfully been approved as the Yunnan Provincial Public Science and Technology Service Platform for Low Carbon and Energy Saving Technologies and the Yunnan Provincial Key Laboratory for Carbon Neutrality and Green Low Carbon Technologies.
