The Southwest United Graduate School is a teaching and research institution – jointly promoted by the Ministry of Education and the Yunnan provincial government – in cooperation with Yunnan University, or YNU.
The construction of the school was jointly organized by Peking University, Tsinghua University and Nankai University, while Kunming University of Science and Technology and Yunnan Normal University also participated.
Business management and guidance come mainly from the provincial department of education.
Cadres and professors from the member universities of the graduate school, along with all new students of the 2024 group, attended the ceremony. During the event, the school presented appointment certificates to its newly appointed doctoral degree supervisors.
Following the ceremony, a symposium was held to report on the progress of the graduate school's development. Attendees discussed how to integrate the special strengths of each participating university with Yunnan's research resources to build collaborative platforms that better serve local economic and social development.
Moving forwards, plans are for the member universities to engage in joint graduate programs and promote scientific innovation – aiming to enhance the quality of student training and drive the quality development of the graduate school.
