A strategic cooperation signing ceremony took place at Yunnan University (YNU) on Oct 10, bringing together the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences (CAMS), Yunnan Normal University, and the Yunnan Provincial Meteorological Bureau.
In his opening remarks, Ma Wenhui, president of YNU, emphasized the university's commitment to open cooperation and complementary strengths. He highlighted that the institution will join forces with its partners to tackle scientific challenges and promote the efficient integration of "industry, academia, research, and application."
Yin Xiaoyi, director of the Yunnan Provincial Meteorological Bureau; Hu Jinming, president of Yunnan Normal University; and Zhang Chaolin, deputy director of CAMS, also delivered speeches. They expressed their intention to establish a collaborative framework that pools their respective strengths, enabling resource sharing and jointly advancing the theoretical study of atmospheric sciences and the practical application of meteorology.
Xiong Shaoyuan, deputy director of the China Meteorological Administration, highlighted the importance of deepening cooperation in high-level talent development, technological innovation, and international collaboration. He encouraged the parties to transform cooperation outcomes into practical applications and work together to create a meteorological innovation center with global influence focused on South and Southeast Asia.
The agreement was officially signed by CAMS Deputy Director Zhang, YNU Vice-President Duan Xingwu, Yunnan Normal University Vice-President Niu Zhiliang, and Hu Jinsong, deputy director of the Yunnan Provincial Meteorological Bureau, who represented their respective institutions.
