YNU's Professor Zhu publishes research findings in Advanced Materials

Updated: Oct 18, 2024

Professor Zhu Jing's team from the School of Materials and Energy at Yunnan University (YNU) recently published their research results in the prestigious journal Advanced Materials.

The paper, titled Absolutely Structural Disorder Boosting Bandwidth toward Full-Spectrum White Light from Single Occupancy of Activator, presents the design and synthesis of a novel single-phase full-spectrum white light phosphor. The first author is Zhang Hongzhi, a postdoctoral researcher at YNU, while Professor Zhu and Researcher Hu Wanbiao are the corresponding authors.

Activator phosphors are widely used in energy-efficient and supplemental lighting for plant growth. This research aims to simplify the assembly of white LEDs and avoid long-term color instability.

While various materials have achieved full-spectrum white light, those utilizing a single emission center are particularly vital. The team successfully implemented an absolute structural disorder strategy to achieve ultra-broadband emission, significantly enhancing color stability.

Professor Zhu's team also collaborated with other universities to develop high-performance phosphors, addressing the challenges in the luminescence control of Eu3+-activated materials, which promote plant growth.
