The 2024 National Social Science Fund (NSSF) selection results were recently announced, with Yunnan University securing 44 projects. These include three key projects, 15 general projects, 17 youth projects, and nine western China projects.
Over the past five years, the university has maintained a high standard, with a total of 217 NSSF projects approved, reflecting consistent academic excellence.
This year, the university submitted 188 project applications, achieving a success rate of 23.4 percent. Out of the 23 academic disciplines submitted, 18 received funding.
Ethnology and regional and international studies stood out, with seven and five projects, respectively, demonstrating the university's strengths in these specialized fields.
Notable breakthroughs were made in several disciplines, with applied economics securing five projects, sociology three, world history two, and linguistics three.
Moving forwards, Yunnan University plans to strengthen support for key disciplines, address gaps in weaker areas, and prioritize project applications to further enhance its standing in the "first-class universities and disciplines" initiative.
