Groundbreaking research by Yunnan University tops social science rankings

Updated: Oct 24, 2024

A study authored by Shen Yuanyuan, a postdoctoral researcher from Yunnan University's International Rivers and Eco-Security Research Institute, and Kong Jianxun, a researcher from the Yunnan University Institute of Belt and Road (BRI) Studies, recently had the highest readership for social science articles, with nearly 40,000 views.

The study is entitled Why Is It Difficult for Chinese Enterprises to Establish Overseas? - Survey and Analysis in 18 Countries Involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

The China Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences Evaluation released the 2024 annual WeChat report analyzing comprehensive social science journals.

The report samples the comprehensive social science journals in CSSCI (2023-2024) and conducts an in-depth analysis covering three angles: an overview of public accounts, overall performance, and journal papers.

This paper analyzes the challenges faced by overseas Chinese enterprises in four areas: financing resistance, embedded anxiety, labor shortage, and industry competition. The findings highlight institutional obstacles, outdated financial systems, and workforce development issues that complicate foreign investment. The study's insights have garnered significant attention across academia, industry, and the media.

Yunnan University continues to advance research in overseas Chinese enterprises, aiming to publish more impactful studies that will facilitate high-quality BRI collaboration.
