The signing of the accord is seen as being of great importance in fostering academic exchanges and cooperation, promoting mutual visits between faculty and students, expanding the breadth and depth of joint initiatives – and in supporting the economic and social development of both China and Thailand.

The partnership is also expected to enhance the international influence of Yunnan University, or YNU, and its Thai counterpart.
