The 10th National Symposium on Applied Geochemistry was held from Nov 1 to 3 in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province.
The event, hosted by Yunnan University (YNU), brought together over 150 experts and scholars from more than 30 institutions. These included the China University of Geosciences (Beijing), the Institute of Geochemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Yunnan University, the Yunnan Geological Society, the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Hebei Geological Survey Institute.
Wu Jian, vice-president of Yunnan University, and Gong Qingjie, director of the Applied Geochemistry Committee of the Chinese Society for Mineralogy, Petrology, and Geochemistry, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.
The symposium, which focused on the theme "Applied Geochemical Research as Key Scientific Support for a New Round of Mineral Exploration Strategy and Geo-Health Engineering," featured keynote speeches from prominent experts: Academician Deng Jun from China University of Geosciences (Beijing), Professor Chen Jing'an from the Institute of Geochemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professors Tan Shucheng and Zhao Zhifang from YNU.
The event hosted six parallel sessions, during which over 80 specialists presented academic papers and discussed various aspects of applied geochemistry.
