YNU forges ahead with volunteer teaching program in Jinghong, Ludian

A group of 85 students from Yunnan University (YNU), guided by six faculty members, embarked on a four-month teaching assistance initiative on Feb 28. They were assigned to 16 primary and secondary schools in Jinghong and 10 schools in Ludian county, where they will lend their efforts to supporting the development of local education.

The participating students come from various schools at YNU, including the Undergraduate School, the School of Physical Education, the School of Arts and Design, and the Changxin International School of Art. Prior to their departure, they underwent multiple rounds of pre-service training.

Over the next four months, the team will engage in a diverse array of educational support activities. These include sports and arts education, curriculum development, extracurricular club formation, after-school services, competition and performance organization, campus culture enhancement, and the establishment of master teacher studios.

Their efforts will bridge theoretical knowledge with hands-on teaching experience, fostering local students' aesthetic appreciation and overall well-being while promoting a more integrated, diverse, and distinctive approach to sports and arts education in local schools.

Over the years, YNU has dispatched a total of 126 students and faculty members to support 19 schools in Jinghong. Their contributions include holding 31,125 hours of sports and art classes, establishing 73 student clubs, organizing 147 competitions and performances, and helping set up seven master teacher studios. These efforts have significantly enriched the learning experience for local students and strengthened educational resources in the region.
