Yunnan University signs sci-tech cooperation deals worth more than $14m

Yunnan University held its 2025 Scientific Research Work Conference and the Achievement Commercialization & Cooperation Signing Ceremony on May 30, with total contracts related to scientific and technological achievement commercialization and cooperation reaching 103.25 million yuan ($14.37 million).

The conference aimed to review and showcase the university's achievements in scientific research and innovation, further promote the development of philosophy and social sciences, accelerate the commercialization and application of research outcomes, and plan the next phase of research efforts in alignment with national strategies and Yunnan's economic and social development.

Duan Xingwu and Yang Shaojun, vice presidents of Yunnan University delivered the Yunnan University Science and Technology Work Report and the Yunnan University Social Sciences Work Report, respectively.

Yunnan University signed strategic cooperation agreements with several key partners, including the Party School of Yunnan Committee of CPC, Yunnan Provincial Academy of Science and Technology, Bank of Communications Yunnan Branch, Hongyunhonghe Group, Yunnan Tin Group, and Qujing JA Solar Technology Co.

Additionally, various colleges and research institutes of Yunnan University – including the School of Modern Engineering, the School of Materials and Energy, the School of Physics and Astronomy, the School of Chemical Science and Technology, the Institute of Biomedical Research, and the School of Earth Sciences – signed agreements with industry partners to advance the commercialization of scientific research achievements.

Party Secretary Zhou Xuebin and President Ma Wenhui of Yunnan University presented awards to Yunnan University recipients of the Ministry of Education Outstanding Scientific Research Achievement Award (Humanities and Social Sciences) and to the winners of the university's Top 10 Scientific and Technological Advances of 2024.
