Yunnan University (YNU) will continue to expand its undergraduate enrollment in 2026, with plans to add 200 new admission slots. The additional quota will be primarily allocated to science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, emerging interdisciplinary programs, and other key disciplines.
Since 2022, the university has increased enrollment for four consecutive years, with a cumulative expansion of 1,550 students, representing a 36.9 percent overall growth. This reflects a continued enhancement in the capacity to provide high-quality higher education resources.
During the expansion process, the university has focused on key and emerging fields such as hydrogen energy, artificial intelligence, biomedicine, and modern agriculture. These efforts aim to further optimize the disciplinary structure of the university and better meet industrial demand.
While expanding, YNU has also strengthened its quality assurance system for talent training. It continues to refine its academic structure by increasing enrollment in high-employment, high-demand disciplines, while reducing or suspending programs with overlapping content or limited market demand, ensuring dynamic alignment between enrollment structure and labor market needs.
Meanwhile, the university is improving its teaching quality through multiple measures, including recruiting faculty for emerging and shortage disciplines, enhancing teacher training and evaluation mechanisms, and strengthening overall academic management systems.
In addition, YNU continues to upgrade its teaching and research infrastructure by renewing laboratory equipment and research platforms, renovating smart classrooms, and improving digital learning environments. The university is also expanding library resources, practical training facilities, innovation and entrepreneurship platforms, and sports and student living facilities, further improving the student experience.
