Indian business managers complete Chinese training course

Updated: Oct 14, 2022

A three-month online Chinese business training course for the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry in India was completed on Sept 24 and Yunnan University – located in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province – was deeply involved.

As one of the sponsors, YNU awarded the Business Chinese (A1) certificate to the students, who were middle and senior executives from leading Indian companies.

The training course was the first time that Yunnan province staged a Chinese language and cultural training course for the Indian business community.

Some 20 Indian students participated in 60 class hours of online real-time teaching. Through classroom dialogues, one-on-one tutoring and other means, they advanced to the point where at the end they could communicate in business Chinese, going from a zero level of the language previously.

One student – Shi Jiani, from Navitus Equipment Co in India – said that the course had not only improved her ability to use Chinese for business communications, but also influenced her friends and relatives who wanted to get to know China and Chinese culture.

Roy Chowdhury, assistant director general of the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said his body would consider organizing more Chinese language training. He said this would further promote cooperation between Indian enterprises and China, especially in commerce and trade, education, the humanities, tourism and other aspects – as well as ties with Yunnan.
