YNU team listed China Youth Day Medal

On April 1, the Communist Youth League announced the individual and collective finalists of the 28th China Youth Day Medal. Among them, the Yunnan University (YNU) Perennial Rice Research Team was selected in the collective category.

The China Youth Day Medal is the highest honor awarded to outstanding young people in China by the Communist Youth League and the All-China Youth Federation. It aims to highlight the exemplary character and outstanding contributions of excellent young people.

The Yunnan University Perennial Rice Research Team consists of 13 members, with approximately 77 percent under the age of 35. They generally conduct research at the Yunnan University Perennial Rice Sci-tech Farming Area. This area is located in Manla village, Menghai county, Xishuangbanna Dai autonomous prefecture, Southwest China's Yunnan province.

The founder of this area is Hu Fengyi, dean of Yunnan University's School of Agriculture. He leads his graduate students in conducting research and completing their thesis.

This sci-tech farming area is home to over 10 resident students and two to three research and doctoral supervisors. They research the cultivation technology related to perennial rice fields. They also promote the technology locally to ensure crop yields and help increase farmers' income.

It is reported that three graduate students who have conducted research in the sci-tech farming area chose to work in agricultural institutions in Xishuangbanna after graduating, continuing to contribute to local agricultural development.
